Russia: 24 ha greenhouse complex to be built in Rostov region

The SovAgroTech group of companies are going to build a year-round greenhouse complex with an acreage of 24 ha and value of 64.28 million euros. The complex, to be built at a former mining territory in the Krasnosulinsky area of the Rostov region, will be completed by 2022. The head of the group of companies, Mr. Yuriy Kurchenko, mentioned this in his speech at the international forum AgroYoug in Stavropol.

The first project phase will be launched in 2019, the second one in 2021. As a result 400 new jobs will be created. As Mr. Kurchenko reported, the project has already started.

“The greenhouses will be built in two different areas of the Rostov region in two phases: the first one will be launched in 2020 and the second one in 2022. Now we are in the projection phase, we are discussing the infrastructure issues with the authorities. These are large-scale projects, therefore they will be carried out in two stages”, mentioned Mr. Kurchenko. Both complexes will have year-round cultivation.

It is presupposed that the crops of one ha will amount to 900 tons of vegetables per year. Cucumbers will be grown within the first phase of the project. After the second phase is completed, the greenhouses will start growing tomatoes and lettuce.
