Germany: RAM's VisuSpectrum allows researchers to visualize adjusted light spectra

German company RAM develops and manufactures a big range of greenhouse climate control automation techniques. For a joint-cooperation together with supplemental lighting supplier DH Licht they received an INDEGA achievement award for their VisuSpectrum software application that enables researchers to adjust and visualize the adjusted light spectrums from DH-Licht's newest LED-modules.

"The new VisuSpectrum application is very usable for researchers that want to control and visualize the settings they made on horticulture LED-modules", said Dominik Bretz from RAM. Bretz is responsible for the programming the software of RAM's application. "Briefly is works like this", said Bretz when he is trying to explain what is the trick inside the software. "The spectrum is calculated by the LEDs-data that is implemented in the software. Researchers can adjust these data with a flick of a switch to calculate the plants needs."

The VisuSpectrum software is tailor made for the LED installation that was provided by DH-Licht. These LED-modules are containing a chip that allows the user to adjust the light distribution of the luminaire. The control of these settings is now available in the VisuSpectrum software by RAM. This control can be made in Stand-alone mode (either manually or via timer), as well as a via a climate computer (automatic) that the spectral distribution of light at the time of the day or can adjust by other detectable metrological parameters.
