Cucumber harvest increased within 4 months

China: Zhengzhou City using vegetable grafting techniques from Israel

The Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government reports that the Zhengzhou City Agriculture Commission and Vegetable Institute have made outstanding achievements in use of technologies from abroad. The city named the Institute one of the outstanding institutes in 2013 for introducing advanced overseas technologies in the city.

In recent years, the Institute has been working in cooperation with well-known international research institutions and technology experts in the development of vegetables, introducing new varieties, developing new research and technology, and attract talent from abroad to work on their facilities.

Currently the Institute has been doing research and working in cooperation with more than 10 international organizations including the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture Volcani Research Center, the International Potato Center, the Rostock University of Germany, the Wageningen University of Holland, and other international organizations.

The Institute has hired 8 overseas experts as Distinguished Research Fellows for the implementation of their international cooperation project in Henan province. The project involved new varieties and technology from Israel. This new grafting technique from Israel extends the harvest period for cucumber to up to 4 months, greatly benefiting vegetable growers of the city.

The Institute and it’s partner organization are currently working on a total of more 20 projects.
