Netherlands: Be sure to replace your insect lamp

Insects in the greenhouse is something you would rather do without. However, it is very difficult to keep insects out. It might be more practical to catch them once inside, so they don’t damage the crop. An effective way to catch insects in the greenhouse insect lamp.

These are used in many modern greenhouses. Bugs are attracted by the UV-A light, emitted by a fluorescent substance present on the inside of the lamp.

The use of a UV-A lamp insect has been very successful and has proven effective in horticulture. However, a lamp - in continuous use - must be replaced annually. After about 8,000 hours the fluorescent layer in the lamp slowly degrades. As a result, the UV-A light is no longer effective.

Horticoop has various insects lamps in its range. Please consult with one of our specialists and make the right choice.
