Chinese greenhouse builders learn about greenhouse automation

The Chinese horticultural industry is growing substantially. However, in terms of automation the sector still has a lot to gain. The rapidly growing population requires more vegetables and fruit that needs to be produced to answer to the increasing demand for food. At the same time we are dealing with strict regulations to ensure food safety and quality. As a grower the production of high quality crop is essential to your business. This is sustained with an efficient use of controlled irrigation and nutrition.



Leading producer of horticultural automation, Hoogendoorn, has over 45 years’ experience in sustainable automation solutions for all types of greenhouses and open field. To share their expertise and inform Chinese greenhouse builders and growers about the possibilities, Hoogendoorn organized a Seminar on the 28th of February in Beijing.

The free full-day seminar was particularly for Chinese greenhouse builders and designers. A total of 48 participants took part in the Seminar. The purpose of this Seminar was to broaden their knowledge in terms of greenhouse climate control, efficient use of irrigation and energy, and food safety.



Automation solutions for all types of horticultural businesses

Three international speakers of Hoogendoorn, held an interactive presentation. The main topic of the Seminar was how to start with automatic control of irrigation and climate in a small and big greenhouse. Moreover, also how Hoogendoorn’s solutions can contribute to ensure food safety and security was discussed.

Participants were given a clear view on the customized solutions that Hoogendoorn provides for all types of horticultural businesses. From open field, solar greenhouses, tunnels, high-tech and closed greenhouses. Automation solutions that help growers to use water, nutrients, energy in an efficient manner. In addition, how growers can achieve optimal crop production, high-value quality and increase their company’s profit was discussed. During this Seminar Chinese translators were present. This made it easier for participants to understand the added value of horticultural automation solutions for their business.



Workshop: iSii process computer in practice

Next to the theory, Hoogendoorn organized a workshop and a guided tour in the Demonstration greenhouse, where Hoogendoorn’s advanced technology is applied. Participants were able to experience the use of the iSii process computer. They were very enthusiastic about the solutions and innovations that Hoogendoorn provides in order to take the entire business process in their greenhouses to the next level.

Experience in Asia

Hoogendoorn has experience with automation projects in Asian countries, such as Japan, Korea and China. The recent project Beilangzhong Chrysanthemum in China, realized in collaboration with Delifor China and local partner XTB, is automated by Hoogendoorn. The Beilangzhong nursery grows chrysanthiums on an surface of 6000 m2. They do 4 rounds per year with 220.000 pieces per round with 7 employees in total.T hanks to automation, the customer is able to produce high qualitative Chrysanthemums, with a lower use of water and energy.



Next to the technology, Hoogendoorn also provided a training for the grower, who straight after found the iSii process computer easy to use.

Niu Xiaofang of Beilangzhong about the use of the Hoogendoorn iSii process computer: “The iSii computer has an easy user interface. It is very comfortable to work with, it has powerful ViP settings, clear overviews and handy graphs. With an automatic control of Hoogendoorn you can save energy by a better use of the screens and you get a higher production because the controls are accurate. The Hoogendoorn specialists are very friendly and they have a lot of patient when you ask them for help. So, we are very happy with the iSii computer from Hoogendoorn.”
