Russia: Greenhouse vegetables crops in Moscow region up 77%

Due to the launch of new highly efficient production units in Moscow region, the amount of greenhouse vegetable crops has increased by 77% in comparison to the same period in 2017, reported the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow region, Mr. Andrey Razin.

“Gross output of greenhouse vegetables in the Moscow region, as of September 11, 2018, amounted to 42.7 thousand tons. Last year 23.9 thousand tons were collected by the same date”, mentioned Mr. Razin.

According to the Minister, with that they have collected 26.66 thousand tons of cucumbers, 15.7 thousand tons of tomatoes, and 0.4 thousand tons of other crops.

“I would like to remind that the Moscow region was the first of the Russian regions to grow eggplants in greenhouses in production volumes. In the complex Agriculture Group, located in the Kashirsky, they have grown 300 tons of eggplants on 1 ha, with an overall harvest of 30 thousand tons”, added Mr. Andrey Razin.
