Russian greenhouse vegetable production up 20.7%

According to data provided by agricultural enterprises, greenhouse vegetable production in August 2018 has amounted to 665.4 thousand tons, which is 20.7% higher than the same period last year (550.9 thousand tons).

Breaking down those figures, 431 thousand tons of cucumbers (12.9% of increase to the data of 2017 – 381.7 thousand tons) have been harvested, and 223.9 thousand tons of tomatoes (39.5% of increase compared to the data of 2017 – 160.5 thousand tons). Other vegetable crops amounted to 10.5 thousand tons, which exceeds the level of 2017 (8.7 thousand tons) by 20.6%.
