Can VPD give early warning of water stress in tomatoes?

Cambridge based Delta-T Devices has been conducting research into soil-to-atmosphere water transport in potted tomato plants - by measuring and processing soil moisture data against vapour pressure deficit (VPD). The resulting white paper points towards new ways of identifying early signs of water stress.
