WDP Draadbewerking shows off new version

A solid spring clip lasts years

The whitefly is not exactly a welcome guest in the greenhouse. Growers do everything they can to keep out the little pest. A well-known method for catching the fly are the large yellow sticky strips that are stretched between the buds of the plant. For attaching the adhesive strips, WDP Draadbewerking has had spring clips available since 2010. During the recent Greentech fair in Amsterdam, Willem Delisse and Berrie Schuurman talked about their original product and they also showed a new version.

A climate computer or screen installation from eight years ago might still work perfectly, but it's not really state-of-the-art anymore. Horticulture is developing at a breakneck pace. Nevertheless, some ideas are so good they stand the test of time, no matter how simple they are. One of these is the spring clip for adhesive foil strips from WDP Draadbewerking.

Refined spring clip
Over the years the product has developed into the current version and is now sold across the globe. The closed bracket keeps the foil vertical and stretched, so that it doesn't fold double. "If that happens, you can start over again. The foil is fixed firmly in the brackets, but it doesn't get pinched, which avoids damaging the foil."

The spring clip can be attached to any type of suspension and can therefore be used in virtually any greenhouse. In addition to the vertical version there is also a horizontal version for hanging flat under the gutter. "That's a new version. Growers can use it to catch the tuta, which causes damage in the vein at the bottom of the plant."

Easy mounting

The Brabant company showed both spring clips during the GreenTech 2018 fair in Amsterdam. "Attaching it is simple: you slide the foil in and click the bracket closed, much easier and quicker than to wrap the sticky yellow strips around the iron suspension equipment", Willem says.
