Organic plug paper to be introduced on GreenTech

With the GreenTech coming up in June we're getting in touch with several horticultural intellectuals, entrepreneurs, innovators and general greenhouse geeks. Today we present you the team of Ellepot. They will exhibit at the GreenTech and will launch an organic growing plug at the exhibition.

What is your contribution to the advancement of the global horticulture industry?
We supply an environmentally friendly and sustainable propagation system – A strong alternative to the conventional plastic pot and polybag. With the Ellepot system, we help our customers improve production efficiency, optimize handling and deliver increased yield and lower costs of goods produced. And this in a green and environmentally friendly way.

What would you say is the most important topic in horticulture at the moment?
The most important challenge for the horticulture is lack of labor, efficiency, cost reduction and sustainability – The industry is forced to think different and adapt to the new future market condition.

What will you be doing at the GreenTech? Will you present any novelties during the trade show?
We will show how our customers can save money, become more efficient, productive and grow greener. Furthermore we are proud to present our new Ellepot Organic paper - certified for Organic growing.

What project that you’re currently involved in are you most proud of?
We are very excited of a project we are developing and testing in close cooperation with one of the top key players and growers in Holland. The goal is to replace the plastic pot by using Ellepot paper which is degradable and environmentally friendly = No plastic in nature.

How do you see the future of horticulture?
We are optimistic, although the macro trends are looking challenging. Increasing population, wealth, urbanization and year round supplies, will have a major impact on the future horticulture industry worldwide.
An estimated population of almost 9 billion people in 2050, will create a huge demand for e.g. flowers, trees, fruit and vegetables. This combined with the reality that more and more people will move from rural areas to the big cities, resulting in lack of labor and workforce for the horticulture. A development which will create a huge demand for automation and technical solutions in order to be more efficient and productive.

What is your contribution to the advancement of the global horticulture industry?
We have been showing the horticultural industry a smarter way of growing for the past 20 years. Supplying not only an environmentally friendly & integrated propagation system, but also a direct alternative solution to the ongoing use of conventional plastic pots and polybags. We create tomorrow’ propagation method by helping our customers save money, become more efficient, and increase sales cycles. We help our customers do things smarter.

Ellepot is to exhibit at the GreenTech exhibition June 12-13-14 in Amsterdam. The GreenTech summit will take place June 11th.
