Russia: 11 ha greenhouse to be opened in Leningrad region

A new greenhouse complex valued at 28.2 million euros will be built in the Volosovskiy district of the Leningrad region (Russia). The greenhouse complex will grow eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce. The press service of the Leningrad region administration reports that the corresponding project was approved on Thursday.

“The project of the greenhouse complex in Volosovskiy district was approved on March 29, 2018. The investor, LLC Agrotechnologii company, is planning to invest about 28 million euros in the construction of the contemporary vegetable growing complex. The enterprise, with an acreage of 11 ha, will grow produce for the dwellers of the Leningrad region, Saint Petersburg and Moscow and will employ 240 associates”, reads the press release.

The agreement on the project fulfillment was signed by the governor of the Leningrad region, Mr Aleksandr Drozdenko, in the scope of the Saint Petersburg international economic forum in 2017.

The volume of the agricultural production for the Leningrad region comprised 26.5 thousand tons for 2016, of which 19 thousand tons were cucumbers, 4 thousand tons were lettuce and greenery, and 3 thousand tons were tomatoes. The results of 2017 have not been finalized yet.
