Belgium: Eco Erica takes over 8.2 hectares of Fruit Farm Company
On Friday, March 2, 2018 Krist Hamerlinck from Hamerlinck LV signed the purchase agreement for 8.2 hectares of greenhouse in Erica. Hamerlinck takes over part of the for sale bio branch of the Fruit Farm Group in this Drenthe village. With the purchase, Hamerlinck LV expands the acreage on which organic greenhouse vegetables are grown from 15 to 23 hectares.
In total, Hamerlinck now has, in addition to the 23 hectares of greenhouses spread over the Netherlands and Belgium, also 20 hectares for the cultivation of organic vegetables in the open field. In Mexico, in 5 hectares of greenhouses, there is year-round cultivation going on for the American market
Compost
At the end of March, the first plants will enter the greenhouse in Erica. First cucumber plants and at the beginning of April the pepper and tomato plants will follow. Hamerlinck has little construction to do on the greenhouse complex itself. That is why the composting was already began on March 9th.
Employees
Krist Hamerlinck is still looking for employees for the new Dutch location, almost 350 kilometers away from the location in Assenede in Flanders. "The new location is not just around the corner. Now I regularly go back and forth, but over time it is the intention to build up an independent business management over there."
