Belgian grower Den Boschkant chooses for new LED Interlighting

In early 2017, Philips launched a new light fixture, the Greenpower LED Interlighting module. This fixture is hung between the crop and the entire line can be adjusted in height manually. The fixture produces 300 μmol/m2.s light output and with 100 watts per module, the fixture produces 3 μmol/m2.s per watt. This makes the fixture one of the most efficient in its class.

Reason enough for Marja van Dessel and Leo Verdonck from tomato nursery Den Boschkant (Vremde - Belgium) to invite Philips and Stolze for coffee. Marja and Leo are veritable entrepreneurs who are always looking for novelties and opportunities to boost cultivation. Therefore, they are installing 10,464 Greenpower LED Interlighting modules in over 4 ha of greenhouse.

Den Boschkant decided to do the cabling and installation of the modules in-house. This allows them to do the installation according to their strict hygiene protocol. This also provides them the flexibility to choose the time for the assembly. Stolze supplies all the cabling materials and the fixtures, adapted to the requirements of Den Boschkant. At the moment they are doing the preparatory works and by September this year, the LED lighting at Den Boschkant will be in operation.

The concept whereby the installation is produced in such a way that the customer can do the installation himself, will increase in the future. Stolze is responding to this by dividing the installation into various components and doing as much preparatory work as possible in the workshop. In this way, a building package is provided that the customer himself can install.
