Mexico: Agropark growers starting their crop change
For some Mexican growers at the Agropark high tech greenhouse cluster in Queretaro, the season has come to an end again. While their counterparts in Canada and the U.S. are currently in full production, the Mexican growers are in the middle of the crop change, preparing the new season.
Saul Baez Hernandez, the general director of the Agropark Greenhouse Association, shared a few images on his LinkedIn page of the work carried out at the Mexican greenhouses. It shows how the old crops are being shredded and prepared for composting.
While in Holland, the U.S. and Canada a lot of these kind of tasks are carried out by heavy machinery, a lot of the work in Mexico is still carried out by manpower. Yet, some Mexican growers started to use heavy shredders to process the crop into raw materials for composting practices. In a later stage, the compost will be used to fertilize arable land.
