Phil Pearson, APS Group:

“It’s always a surprise to people how many tomatoes are grown in the UK”

British tomato grower Phil Pearson of APS Salads was recently featured in a new video from the Red Tractor quality mark, a product certification program that comprises a number of farm assurance schemes for British food products. Pearson's APS Group, has glass covering the equivalent of 250 football pitches across the UK – just to produce fresh, tasty Red Tractor Assured tomatoes for UK shoppers.

“It’s always a surprise to people how many tomatoes are grown in the UK,” Phil says in the video. “The main difference between what we grow here and imported produce is that we harvest ours when they’re very red and they have the flavour that other fruit doesn’t have.”
