Commercial horticulture technology meets indoor farming needs

Indoor farming is nice and fancy, but how can it pay your bills? Yesterday, attendees of the 5th edition of the annual Indoor Ag-Con got an answer to this and other important questions during the second day of the event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Through interesting technical presentations and a Q&A session, suppliers, researchers and developers of controlled environment related technology provided food for thought. It showed how the indoor agriculture industry can learn from the experience of the commercial horticulture industry in regards to hot topics such as energy saving, choice of substrates and selecting the right control system. As well as this, leading commercial horticultural growers shared their vision on how they grow the highest amount of quality product against the lowest cost.

Also the break out sessions had a technical focus on the second day. Damian Solomon, Director of Cultivation at MedMen, explained how existing high tech and newly developed technologies inspired by the commercial horticulture industry can benefit legal indoor cannabis cultivation.

Next week we will be back with more on this. On Monday you can expect a complete photo report of the conference and exhibition published on HortiDaily.com.
