How to make farmers markets thrive year round?

It’s National Farmers Market Week this week, a proclamation that honors and celebrates the important role farmers markets play in local economies. Farmers Markets have grown rapidly over the past decade, and more than 8,400 farmers markets are listed in USDA’s National Farmers Market Directory.

For instance, in Omaha, there are plans for a year-round indoor market set to open in 2018 with all products locally sourced. However, during the winter months, the availability of local grown produce will be limited. This is where indoor agriculture comes in.
