Australia: National Horticulture Convention injects Gold Coast economy
Now incorporating seven industry co-hosts across Australian horticulture, the Convention will run from 23-25 June and is set to attract over 1,500 local and international delegates to the Gold Coast.
“The National Horticulture Convention will embrace all aspects unique to the Gold Coast over three eventful days. Through hosting the event at the world-class RACV Royal Pines, as well as multiple hotels and venues, it is expected that over $2 million will be injected into the local economy,” said AUSVEG National Marketing Manager Nathan McIntyre.
“The Gold Coast was selected once again due to its world-leading facilities, temperate winter climate and world-renowned natural beauty. Many growers take the opportunity to incorporate holiday plans around the Convention, so the economic benefits will continue both before and after the event as well,” said Mr McIntyre.
“The 2016 Convention includes a range of exciting events, such as the Women in Horticulture event that acknowledges the integral role that women play in Australian horticulture and the weekend’s capstone event, the National Awards for Excellence.”
“With Australia’s horticulture industries uniting to make this year’s event the biggest in Australian horticulture history, the additional delegates are sure to provide an added boost to the city’s economy.”
Some of the biggest names in horticulture will be speaking at the event, including keynote speaker Rob Kaan, Managing Director of Dow AgroSciences Australia and New Zealand, Emmy award-winning journalist and Genetic Modification expert Jon Entine and Mark Allison, Managing Director of Elders.
“With three days of informative and exciting events, the 2016 National Horticulture Convention is a not-to-be missed event for all members of Australian horticulture,” said Mr McIntyre.
