US: Purdue center launches new quarterly review publication

Purdue University's Center for Food and Agricultural Business has started a new publication focused on tailoring business insights to the world of food and agriculture.

The Purdue Food and Agribusiness Quarterly Review is a compilation of expert faculty reviews of business books, research papers and articles. Reviewers also offer insights to make the concepts in the original articles applicable specifically to food and agricultural businesses.

"Food and agricultural business is unique in a number of ways," said Scott Downey, associate director of the center and editor of the review. "We understand that this industry faces its own set of challenges and business advice isn't always one-size-fits-all. That's where the quarterly review comes in. We want to make sure business professionals in the agriculture industry have the information they need to be successful."

The publication includes a mix of articles focused on sales, marketing, talent management, strategy and finance. It will publish quarterly in January, April, July and October.

This quarter’s articles:
  • "Talented people and strong brands," by Michael Gunderson, associate director of the center and associate professor of agricultural economics.
  • "Firm boundary decisions in solution business," by Allan Gray, center director and professor of agricultural economics.
  • "Marketing or sales: the executive decision," by Downey.
  • "Book Review: Discovery-Driven Growth," by Michael Boehlje, distinguished professor of agricultural economics.
The review's first edition is online at http://agribusiness.purdue.edu/quarterly-review. To sign up for email notifications when new articles are published, visit http://agribusiness.purdue.edu/contact, fill out the short form, and check the box next to Food and Agribusiness Quarterly Review.
