April 26-28, Perpignan, France

Lettuce featured product at this year's MedFEL trade fair

MedFEL, the annual fresh produce trade fair held in Perpignan, France, will take place this year between April 26 and 28 at the Parc des Expositions. This year's conference will emphasize lettuce, and in addition to information about the European produce industry as a whole, it will detail how lettuce fares in the midst of a changing global trade system.

“In a crisis period that has proved particularly difficult for the lettuce sector, I decided to take action to ensure that solutions are quickly identified in response to the needs expressed by professionals,” wrote Carole Delga, President of the Languedoc Roussillon Midi Pyrenees Regional Council, which organizes the event. “Lettuces were therefore the natural choice as this year's featured product, as part of a specific process guaranteeing clarity and traceability of origin.”

On the opening day of the event, the council will meet with lettuce professionals to discuss current developments in the lettuce market. Throughout the fair, lettuces will have their own dedicated stand where attendees can sample lettuce products.

Last year, the event featured 240 exhibitors and 5,855 visitors. This year, organizers are hoping for attendance figures to top 6,000 visitors, and they've recruited over 100 VIP buyers, most of whom are based in Europe. That will go a long way toward matching or exceeding the 5,632 BtoB meetings event planners organized last year.
