Russia: Lipetsk Agro on its way to 30 ha

The construction of the horticultural project Lipetsk Agro in Russia is progressing well. Following the first phase in 2013, the company is well on track to obtaining a surface area of 30 ha. KUBO has now made a start with the construction of phase 4.2.

Lipetsk Agro grows cucumbers and tomatoes, including their own planting material. There is a growing demand in Russia for own production, due to the trade boycott of vegetables from the West. It is remarkable that construction is still taking place: foreign exchange differences have made the import of greenhouses from the West much more expensive. On the other hand, however, the local prices for tomatoes have increased significantly.

Last year, the company managed to realise a yield of 92 kg/m2 beefsteak tomatoes, with intermediate crops. This high yield was partly due to the Dutch growth support at the beginning of the process. The ambition for the year ahead is to break the magical limit of 100 kg per square metre.

Due to the excellent crop results with the Ultra-Clima greenhouses that were built, Lipetsk Agro is now an exemplary company for many Russian growers and investors with an interest in horticulture.
