Lidl launches thematic promotions in its Polish stores

In a move to lure in more customers, the German discounter Lidl has launched thematic promotions in its supermarket stores in Poland. The current theme for February 2016 would be Asian Cuisine, the retailer announced. There are also promotional offers for coconut, mangoes and lychees, ice cream Asian and coconut water. Leaked papers unveil Amazon’s secret plans
Financial news and media company Bloomberg reports that Amazon is planning to set up a global shipping and logistics company, which would pose a direct threat to FedEx and UPS. The super secret plot was brought to limelight by Bloomberg’s Spencer Soper, who describes the Amazon’s plan as “revolutionary system that will automate the entire international supply chain and eliminate much of the legacy waste associated with document handling and freight booking.” Speaking on the rumors, Amazon’s CFO Brian Olsavsky said that the company was just supplementing its shipping partners and do not want to replace them with a fully owned logistics business. UK: Ocado gets world's fastest technique
A world first in radio design has been created by Cambridge Consultants, working in conjunction with Ocado. The technology enables Ocado to control and co-ordinate the movements of hundreds of thousands of crates containing millions of grocery items, in real time and in parallel. It means that Ocado’s innovative next-generation warehouse is home to the most densely packed mobile network in the world. Ocado is the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer – shipping more than two million items every day to customers around the UK. Indonesia Foodmart stores to be rebranded as Foodmart Fresh
Matahari Putra Prima (MPPA) launched a premium Foodmart concept called Foodmart Primo and will now rebrand its regular Foodmart stores under the new Foodmart Fresh banner. It wants to focus on quality and freshness in fresh and local products. (igd.com)

US: What is the most liked grocery app?

According to a new study from Blackhawk Engagement Solutions,’ “How Grocery Shoppers Shop: Changing Trends in Grocery Shopping,” the top used grocery app among U.S. consumers by a wide margin is Amazon (71%). This is followed by grocery store apps (28%), Walmart (26%) and Target (25%). Third-party savings apps are not used much, with use in the low single digits for the grocery channel.
