US: Center for Produce Safety involves BioSafe's Sanidate in research studies
The study, conducted by Dr. Steven Rideout and Dr. Renee Boyer, will focus on control of Salmonella spp., E. coli 0157:H7 and L. monocytogenes. Chemistries being tested are Clorox Regular-Bleach (bleach), CDG Solution 3000 (chlorine dioxide) and BioSafe Systems’ sustainable SaniDate products 5.0 and 12.0 (PAA, peroxyacetic acid).
The Center for Produce Safety’s studies will evaluate the practical criteria for prediction of foodborne pathogen contamination in irrigation, pond, and well water. The reduction of the disease population (log reduction) of the human health pathogens listed above, will be compared after being treated with the 3 selected sanitizers. The study will also analyze the active ingredients of each sanitizer, in an effort to educate and train stakeholders who need to mitigate food safety risks in their irrigation water.
