Start of construction in January:

Holland: Van der Valk-Klein to built Urban Farmers greenhouse in The Hague

In 2012 the foundations were laid for a lasting cooperation between Urban Farmers and Dutch Greenhouse builder Van der Valk -Kleijn, with the construction of a modern greenhouse on an office building in Basel, Switzerland.

As a result of this collaboration the construction of the highest located urban greenhouse in Europe will be started in January 2016. On the roof of the former Philips factory, De Schilde in The Hague, a sustainable greenhouse will be built at a height of 40 meters, equipped with the most modern cultivation technologies.

In the city greenhouse vegetables and fish are produced in a clean, safe and sustainable way. These products will be available in local restaurants and at specialty greengrocers.

Building at height requires knowledge of the construction assembly, implementation of system profiles and the manner of building. The 1300 m² greenhouse will be completely glazed with energy efficient double glass, three entirely separable ventilation groups, screen installations and an intelligent, energy-saving heating system.
