Ontario’s newest vegetable plant propagation greenhouse has doubled its growing space. A brand new 4-acre addition was started in the spring, and is now complete. This week it saw the first young plants placed into the space.
The original 4-acres was built in 2013 by owners Adrian and Jodi Roelands. After only two years of production, the decision was made that more growing space was needed. “We were turning away customers, because we simply didn’t have enough space.” says Adrian Roelands, who is also the head grower. “There is a growing demand for top quality plants, and growers realize we deliver a premium product.”
The latest growing space will be filled with plants grown for both existing customers and new customers.

The concrete flood floors in the expansion are constructed in the same Dutch-style as the original space, because of the superior hygiene and plant quality it produces.
Numerous new staff members were hired for the upcoming growing season. Amongst the many quality people, Roelands Plant Farms was enthusiastic to welcome Steve Klijn as assistant production manager and Ed Thoren as grower.
Limited space is still available for late winter and spring seeding.
