For many years, Bonar has relied on its own extensive Research and Development division for the development of technical textiles. The teams are strongly specialised and possess a widespread network throughout the academic world. For the Agro division, this has resulted in a number of highly successful developments, such as the very first fully biobased ground cover Duracover, the extra transparent gable screen PhormiTex Crystal V and, most recently, the award-winning black-out screen PhormiTex Eclipse. To further deepen the already extensive knowledge, Bonar has entered into two important projects in the greenhouse horticulture sector: the 'Club of 100' of Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture and as a participant in Demokwekerij Westland.
The Club of 100 is an initiative of Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture, whereby suppliers of the horticultural sector have access to the expansive expertise of Wageningen UR and also contribute to the financing of applied strategic research. Bonar will be able to utilise the knowledge of Wageningen UR, yet it shall also apply its own efforts for the pre-competitive research and primarily share its practical expertise for the benefit of the research theme 'Light and Growth'.
In a different project, Bonar is also participant in the Demokwekerij Westland, an internationally renowned innovation centre for the greenhouse horticulture, since the beginning of this year. Demokwekerij conducts research in the field of climate, irrigation, lighting, crop protection products, cultivation systems, fertilisers and more. In addition to Research, the primary pillars of the company are Knowledge Sharing and Demonstration. This is therefore the ideal location for Bonar to introduce new possibilities and developments to a wider audience.
