Ducth greenhouse grower Efibia:

Electromagnetic fields and their effect on living organisms

Organic vegetables, private seed production and research into the effects of crystal water on vegetable cultivation. It all happens at Dutch horticultural company Efibia. The special nursery was founded a year ago and is expected to grow to 30 hectares within a few years.

The nursery Efibia was set up in a former rose nursery in Almere, a little over a year ago. The company (1.5 ha open field, 1.5 ha greenhouses) serves as a kind of laboratory for a group of ambitious, organic entrepreneurs. The nursery features up to 70 kinds of vegetables throughout the year - from arugula, kohlrabi and radish in winter, to tomatoes and peppers in the summer. In addition, the company growing herbs, both medicinal and edible. But that's not the only distinguishing feature. André Hamel, manager at the company, explains.

Electromagnetic fields
The entrepreneurs are currently looking into electromagnetic fields and their effect on living organisms. Use is made of a special kind of water, which is guided along crystals. "As a result, it gets a different structure," explains Hamel. You can’t exactly compare it with vitalized water, or water treatment and other familiar techniques. It is a personal project of the promoters of the company.

By use of the water, it should be possible to transfer the entire light spectrum of the sun on to the vegetables and herbs. "All the waves," explains Hamel. "The entire spectrum. Everything." In a special part of the greenhouse study, the effect of the water is observed. Also, there is a specially designed part of the greenhouse for seed production. "We are working with three generations of the same seed in order to review the effects of the water and the light." The idea, of course, is to cultivate nutritious, healthy and tasty products. "We always look at what is possible," says Hamel. "But we’re also realistic: it’s only the second year."
