Koppert provides greenhouse horticulturists with Horiver® adhesive plates.

Chromotropic traps that catch 400% more thrips

The adhesive traps marketed by Koppert under the Horiver® brand have shown an unbeatable effectiveness in horticultural greenhouses, especially in capturing thrips and whiteflies, which are two of the most common pests in intensive agriculture in southeastern Spain.

The latest tests carried out by Koppert in commercial greenhouses confirm that the blue Horiver plate, specially designed for thrips control, captures 400% more adult insects than other adhesive plates available on the market. Field data also confirms the superior efficacy of the yellow Horiver plates for whitefly control, capturing up to 50% more adults.

The high efficiency of these plates is a direct result of years of research and development carried out by Koppert. Three key factors have made Horiver the most efficient adhesive plate on the market. Firstly, the use of the highest quality glue to ensure the maximum number of captures in a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions. Secondly, Koppert's choosing the right colors for the adhesive plate, taking into account the wavelength that most attracts each pest. Thirdly, the durability of the material from which the plate is made avoids the need for frequent replacement.

Koppert currently markets Horiver plates in three different colors: yellow for whiteflies, blue for thrips and black for the Tuta absoluta. The adhesive plates for whitefly and thrips control are available in 10x25, 20x25 and 40x25 sizes. The black Horiver plate for Tuta absoluta control is only available in a 40x25 format.

Adhesive plates, or chromotropic traps, are very important in any biological control strategy, because they have a dual function. They can be used for monitoring pest levels and also for mass trapping of adult specimens. The degree of effectiveness of these sticky traps depends to a large extent on their correct placement, always depending on the characteristics of the farm and the pest population level.

Koppert recommends the placement of Horiver sticky plates all year round, even when there is no production, for preventive purposes.
