The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australia’s leading fresh produce companies in a challenging and fast-paced role as Senior Grower.  Reporting to the General Manager, Perfection Two Wells, the Senior Grower is responsible for managing 5ha of Glasshouse growing various varieties of Tomatoes. Based in Two Wells,  the Senior Grower will ensure our Glasshouse is conducted in a safe work environment, our customers’ expectations are exceeded, productivity targets are met, and employees are motivated to perform to a high standard.  Your key responsibilities will include –

  • Review daily reports on pest and disease issues
  • Regularly conduct plant quality checks and discussions with growing team
  • Manage glasshouse climate computer to maximise production levels
  • Continuous improvement in all areas of crop production including research and recommend better plant management strategies
  • Ensure Propagation Planning and quality of plants meet specifications
  • Manage labour in accordance with budget expectations
  • Weekly and annual forecasting of all crop production
  • Identify pest and disease issues and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate ongoing problems. Including prescribing the correct chemicals/ sprays
  • Provide advice on energy and water usage requirements
  • Ensure plants are able to produce first grade quality fruit
  • Research and benchmark against other competing businesses


About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have –

  • 6+ years’ experience in growing various Tomato varieties in a protective cropping environment  
  • Degree qualification in horticulture, science or related discipline
  • Significant experience with protected cropping, climate and fertigation management
  • Experience using Priva control system or similar program
