Position Overview

The Director of Production for the New York facilities holds a pivotal role in the daily operations of our greenhouse facilities.  This is a proactive and goal driven position requiring someone who is highly organized with excellent communication skills.  The Director of Production will be working to oversee the day to day functions of the greenhouse production areas ensuring that all processes, training requirements, schedules, policies and procedures are followed and that the set production goals are met. 


Major Areas of Responsibility Include:

  • Planning and supervising the daily/weekly work schedules for all of the production crews
  • Conducting training sessions with the production crew managers on best management practices
  • Serving as a liaison between the managers, production planning and sales fulfillment departments on ways to best coordinate labor efficiencies
  • Coordinating with the management team to ensure that accurate information is communicated to the production crews
  • Motivating employees and identifying the jobs that reflect their skill sets
  • Optimization of space allocation in the various New York production facilities
  • Continuous improvement with regards to streamlining existing procedures, adapting new technologies and integrating production planning software
  • Maintaining accurate records including tracking labor, growing space and production plans


Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge & Abilities):

  • Experience in the horticulture industry is a must
  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant biology, physiology, biological sciences or agricultural sciences preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of greenhouse growing and facilities preferred
  • Experience in a position requiring critical thinking, problem solving, planning and assessment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
  • Proficiency in windows based software and capability to learn production planning software
  • Work authorization
    • United States (Required)
