Australian propagator upgrades monitoring and automation technology

At Australian propagation company Wide Bay Seedlings, innovation and quality go hand in hand. As wholesale suppliers of premium seedlings, including vegetable seedlings, grafted melons, macadamia trees, and tissue culture de-flasking, the team takes pride in growing every product to order. This approach ensures that customers receive exactly what they need, tailored to specification and delivered at the highest possible standard.

To strengthen their precision and efficiency in growing, Wide Bay Seedlings recently introduced advanced monitoring and automation technology with the support of Powerplants.

In two of their poly houses, where there was previously no environmental monitoring, the team can now track and graph temperature, humidity, substrate moisture, and EC. For the first time, IR Plant Temperature Sensors have been integrated directly with a Priva Compact CC, giving the grower unmatched insight into crop conditions and performance.

This integration, the first of its kind, was expertly delivered by Powerplants Senior Controls Technician (QLD), Greg Shepherdson, who ensured a smooth installation and dependable operation.

Customer feedback reflects the success of this upgrade. "Having real-time visibility into our growing conditions has completely changed the way we manage our crops. The data helps us react faster, fine-tune our environment, and maintain consistent quality across every batch," shared the team at Wide Bay Seedlings.

The project stands as a strong example of how growers are combining experience, innovation, and technology to achieve smarter, more sustainable production.
