FAO has built over 2,000 greenhouses in Afghanistan since 2020

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in collaboration with supporting organizations and local people, has built more than 2,000 simple and climate-friendly green rooms in Afghanistan since 2020.

Families benefiting from these greenhouses can buy fresh vegetables, improve their diets, and earn an income by selling surplus produce.

On the recent social media post, a comment was added by Mr Izzat Sherzad:

"The installation of greenhouses in the southeast region stands out as one of the most impactful and sustainable interventions implemented by FAO, significantly contributing to improved food security and income generation for rural communities. This initiative has not only enhanced year-round agricultural productivity but also strengthened the resilience of smallholder farmers against climate-related challenges.

A sincere thanks to FAO & STFA for its continued support and collaboration in promoting rural livelihoods and advancing agriculture in Afghanistan. FAO/STFA commitment is making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable farming families."
