UK: New Aldi's location in Surrey to give away fresh fruit, veg on opening day

The date has been revealed for the opening of a new Aldi supermarket in Caterham. Plans for this store have been in the pipeline for many years and are coming to fruition next month with give-aways of fresh fruit and vegetables to the first customers in the queue.

Aldi has announced its newest store in Caterham, on 381 Croydon Road, will open its doors on Thursday, July 10 at 8am. And, the first 30 customers waiting in the queue will receive free complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables.

A planning appeal for the Aldi store on Croydon Road was granted in August 2023 having been previously rejected the year before by Tandridge District Council amid concerns about "traffic chaos" outside the store.

The new store will be run by store manager Besjana along with a team of 28 colleagues from the local community, however, there are still a number of openings for roles at the new supermarket; which can be found on the Aldi Careers site.
