Spain was the world's leading aubergine exporter in 2024

In 2024, Spain was once again the world's largest exporter of aubergines, both in volume and value, accounting for 36.02% of total world exports, according to a report by Hortoinfo, based on data from the United Nations Statistics Division's COMTRADE system.

Spain was the leading exporter of aubergines with 176 million kilos. Mexico followed at a distance with 100 million kilos (20.43%). The Netherlands ranked third with 50.64 million, followed by Turkey with 24.34 million, and the United States with 23.75 million. Morocco ranked fifteenth, with 3.51 million kilos.

Spain was also the country that generated the most revenue from aubergine exports, with 215.97 million euros, accounting for more than a third of the world's total turnover, which stood at 604.26 million euros. It was followed by Mexico with 127.56 million euros, the Netherlands with 88.28 million euros, the United States with 34.99 million euros, and Turkey with 15.57 million euros.

Among the main exporters, the Netherlands obtained the best average price per ki€o, with 1.74 euros. It was followed by the United States with €1.47/kg, Mexico with €1.28€/kg, Spain with €1.23/kg, and Turkey with €0.64/kg.
