The fourth edition of the Genetics Forum, organized by Planasa, brought together more than a hundred growers, technicians, marketers, and professionals from Huelva and Portugal's berry sector. This annual event has established itself as a key space for the exchange of knowledge and the sharing of technical and genetic advances in berry varieties.
The event, moderated by the journalist Ana Gil, opened with a talk by Elisa Pérez, head of the Rubus genetic improvement program for the EMEA region in Planasa. Pérez gave a complete review of the work carried out on raspberries in recent years, highlighting the recent launch of the new Pink Hudson and Pink Loira varieties, specially adapted to the area's growing conditions. The latter was officially presented during the event.

Julián Rioja, commercial director of Strawberry, Raspberry, and Blackberry Nursery for Iberia & Africa, was in charge of the closure. He highlighted the strategic role of nurseries in the production process. Rioja highlighted the efforts made by Planasa to guarantee growers plants of the highest genetic and health quality.
The Genetics Forum is one of the company's initiatives to share technical knowledge of its varieties to maximize results in the field, and to offer producers a space for support and consultation so they can resolve management doubts and optimize crop yield from nursery to harvest.
Pink Loira launch
"Pink Loira is a raspberry variety for winter production that stands out for its productivity and ease of harvesting, which translates into very good yields for the farmer. Its fruit is attractive and tastes sweet, so it has already begun to attract the attention of the main European retailers, who are eager to make it available to the end consumer," Plasana stated.
