Strawberry prices remain above average in the final stretch of the season

In the final stretch of the season, strawberry prices in the fields of Huelva are falling but continue to exceed the average of recent years. Sales are expected to continue throughout May to compensate for losses in the volume marketed due to weather issues, according to a report by the Observatory of Prices and Markets, consulted by Europa Press.

Blueberry production is peaking, and prices are "well above" the average of the last few seasons.

In contrast, raspberry prices are below average, even though production also peaks in May. In international markets, raspberry prices are trending downwards, competing with those originating in Portugal and Morocco. Blueberry prices remain high, "coexisting with the blueberry from Morocco."

Spanish raspberry prices in the French wholesale market of Lyon-Corbas are similar to the ones achieved by Moroccan raspberries, but "lower" than the ones from Portugal, its main competitors, according to the observatory.

Spanish strawberry prices in international markets are also decreasing due to the increase in local offers.
