Ela Daher, export salesman for Cuna de Platero:

"Despite the bad weather, we've had a stable blueberry season and achieved reasonable financial results"

Bad weather has marked the development of the current berry season in Huelva, although this has not prevented the Cupla variety from continuing to yield good results.

Although strawberries are the most representative product in terms of volume for Cuna de Platero, the company, which works with the whole range of berries, is obtaining good results with its own variety, Cupla, which continues to deliver a stable production, without major peaks. The Cupla is a freely marketable variety that remains productive between November and May.

"Despite the difficulties caused by the bad weather, we've had a stable blueberry season and achieved reasonable financial results," says Ela Daher, export salesperson for Cuna de Platero, who took part as an exhibitor in the Macfrut fair in Rimini, Italy.

"Bad weather and abundant rainfall in Huelva have taken a toll on the berry sector as a whole, so there has been a discontinuous production curve, and this has been a real challenge for the sector," says Ela. "Nonetheless, we are reasonably happy with the results of the season, which is now in its final stretch."

"Cupla is becoming increasingly popular because it is such a tasty variety, with a delicate, exquisite balance between Brix and sourness. It is also a very early and really productive variety, very profitable for the producer thanks to its low harvesting costs," says the sales representative from Cuna de Platero.
