In March, Russia increased its imports of strawberries from China to a record $3.4 million, becoming China's main importer as a result, according to Chinese customs data reviewed by RIA Novosti.
In March, Chinese companies exported $3.4 million worth of strawberries to the Russian market, which is twice as much as in February of this year and March of last year.
As a result, Russia has become the main buyer of Chinese strawberries, displacing Vietnam, the leader of the previous few months. Vietnam, in turn, reduced its imports by almost a quarter to $2.5 million. Hong Kong rounded out the top three, having increased its imports of this product by one and a half times in recent years, to $1.9 million.
In just the first three months of this year, Russia purchased $5.7 million worth of strawberries from China, compared to $2.3 million during the same period a year earlier. There have never been such large purchases in the history of bilateral trade.
