Andrew Greer is a senior at Holston High School, he tells News 5's Yannia Nordelo that his school experience wasn't always smooth sailing.
"I've never liked doing any type of schoolwork. I mean, I'd much rather be outside working with my hands mowing it doesn't matter what it is. I'd much rather do that," said Andrew.
Because of his lack of interest, Andrew struggled coming to school until his teacher Lawrence Cox helped him find his passion.
He's someone who needed a push. He's someone who needed someone to look up to, said Cox. I saw potential in Andrew in particular and decided to take a chance on him. That chance changed Andrew's outlook on school now he rarely misses class and he even became the greenhouse manager. One of his favorite parts of the job became growing lettuce.
