NL: Construction underway in pleasant weather for Dutch pepper giants

Two Dutch bell pepper growers are working on expanding their operations, keeping several greenhouse builders occupied. Recently, updates on social media showed that the construction teams are pleased with the good weather and the progress they are making.

Cogas Tech, is currently working on a project at pepper grower Tas Paprika in Marknesse. Over the past five weeks, they have installed underground piping for the energy room, water room, and the first greenhouse block, which covers 110,000 square meters. In week 18, they began pouring the concrete floor for the energy room and installing heating pipes in the first greenhouse block. Meanwhile, work above ground is moving quickly, and they have already started installing the cable tray in the second greenhouse block, as shown in this video update.

AAB is working on expanding Hoogweg Bell Pepper Nurseries. Last week, project leader Ron van Luijk shared an update about the second phase of work on location 5. By the end of 2024, greenhouses A, C, and D (each approx. 110,000 m2), the processing area, energy and water area were already built and put into use. This year, they aim to finish greenhouses B and E, which are also about 110,000 square meters each, along with their interior buildings. Additionally, by the end of 2025, they plan to have two CHP (Combined Heat and Power) units up and running.

The foundation of greenhouse B is now complete, and last week, the construction team began installing the roof glass. "In two weeks, the screen installer will start working," Ron added. Meanwhile, essential underground infrastructure, like pre-insulated ground pipes and medium voltage cables, has already been installed.

The annex of Greenhouse B is completely built, and the construction team is currently focused on the internal brickwork. At the back of Greenhouse E, the same contractor is diligently working on the steel framework and installing sandwich panels for the business area.

170 kilometers of pipe
VB has shared some details about the Tas Paprika project. Last week, they began installing 51 mm pipes for the first greenhouse, which spans 11 hectares. Overall, VB is handling approximately 280 bundles of pipes, totaling an impressive 170 kilometers in length.
