Morocco has observed an increase in tomato exports to Norway, as reported by EastFruit. From July 2024 to March 2025, Morocco exported 5,000 metric tons of tomatoes to Norway, reflecting a 37.9% increase compared to the same period last season and a 28.9% rise over the previous season's total volume. This represents a seasonal record for Moroccan tomato exports to Norway.
Since 2021, Morocco has been among the world's top three tomato exporters. Tomatoes are central to Morocco's fruit and vegetable exports, leading in volume and revenue. Key markets such as France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands value Moroccan tomatoes for quality and pricing. Norway, though smaller, is growing in importance, especially during winter when demand for imported tomatoes peaks.
Morocco supplies tomatoes to Norway throughout the year, with exports peaking between November and March. January marked a record 1,150 metric tons shipped, the highest monthly volume recorded for Norway.
Morocco ranks third among tomato suppliers to Norway, following Spain and the Netherlands, which together accounted for nearly 70% of Norway's tomato imports in the 2023/24 season. However, exports from Spain and the Netherlands have been declining, while Morocco's market presence is expanding. In the 2019/20 season, Moroccan tomatoes held a 6% share among Norwegian consumers, rising to 22% in the 2022/23 season, and exceeding 29% in the first nine months of the 2024/25 season.
Beyond tomatoes, Morocco is diversifying its exports to Norway with products like mandarins, blueberries, and frozen raspberries, enhancing its reputation as a source of premium produce.
