Ukraine expects workforce problems again ahead of berry harvest

Last year, Ukraine had a very big problem with the labor force for harvesting fruits and berries. There were frequent cases when enterprises could not harvest. This year, the problems with the labor force will be even more pronounced. This was stated to UNN journalist by the head of "UkrSadvinprom" Volodymyr Pechko.

Pechko said that UkrSadvinprom had an initiative to improve legislative norms for attracting foreigners to harvest in Ukraine due to a shortage of people.

"We had an initiative to improve legislative norms, bylaws that regulate, among other things, migration legislation, which is related to the migration service (in order to facilitate the attraction, invitation to Ukraine of foreigners - ed.) for harvesting. These can be countries such as Nepal, India, Vietnam. For us, this is now issue number one. Therefore, UkrSadvinprom appealed with an initiative to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. The Ministry has already appealed to other central executive bodies to jointly solve this problem," Pechko said.

Pechko also noted that the problem with the shortage of labor is not only in horticulture, but also in construction.
