Tom Prins will start as the new team coordinator/policy specialist of Plant Health for Glastuinbouw Nederland from 17 March 2025. He will be inducted in the coming months by current interim team coordinator/policy specialist Henk van Daalen.
Prins comes from a family of growers from Berkel en Rodenrijs. In recent years, he has worked as an agricultural engineer (cultivation and crop protection) for the Emirates company Pure Harvest Smart Farms in the United Arab Emirates. Before that, he worked as innovation manager at Prominent (Growers United). Prins began his career at Ammerlaan Plant Nursery.
Partly from his background, having grown up on a tomato farm, greenhouse horticulture is familiar territory for Prins. He broadened his knowledge of the sector by studying Agribusiness Development, in which he obtained a master's degree. He also did a module in Greenhouse Horticulture at WUR. Before that, he completed a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture & Agribusiness at Inholland University of Applied Sciences in Delft.
At Glastuinbouw Nederland, Prins will focus on the plant health policy for greenhouse horticulture and on coordinating the activities within the Plant Health team. He will also seek connections and coordinate with important stakeholders within greenhouse horticulture, such as NVWA, Ctgb, the Ministry of LVVN, grower associations, FVO, Royal FloraHolland and LTO Nederland (Plant). The input from the national crop groups and the entrepreneur group Plant Health of Glastuinbouw Nederland are leading in this.
100% Green
Prins will make an important contribution to the ambition 100% Green and offer support on the Plant Health theme to the accelerator groups greenhouse vegetables and ornamentals.
