VBT figures week 8

Belgium: Low tomato prices equal 2024

The middle price for loose tomatoes rose to 1.664 euros per kilo last week. The middle price for vine tomatoes also rose slightly, to 1.337 euros. Despite the price increases at the auctions affiliated with the Federation of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives, tomato prices are currently below the five-year average.

The middle price for cucumber, however, is (again) above the five-year average. Here, unlike in tomatoes, prices have also been above last year's price level for quite some time. The average price for week 8 was 67.6 euro cents per head.

The average price for cabbage lettuce is at a low level, actually all year long. The unit price for week 8 is 31 euro cents.

The middle price for strawberries has been below the five-year average again in recent weeks. The kilo price here is 8.60 euros.
