When will Ukrainian greenhouse tomatoes hit the market?

Tomato prices in Ukraine are currently high, with many stores selling them for 110-140 UAH/kg on average ($2.62 - $3.34). Most tomatoes available now are imported from Turkey and the EU, making them more expensive. Prices are expected to drop when Ukrainian greenhouse tomatoes enter the market in spring.

The high cost of greenhouse vegetables is due to rising energy and transportation expenses.

Ukraine has greenhouse farms in several regions, including Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Rivne, Kyiv, Dnipro, and Vinnytsia. These farms grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and leafy greens.

Some Ukrainian cucumbers are already available but in small quantities. Today, these products are being sold at 90– 140 UAH/kg ($2.14- $3.34)

Most Ukrainian greenhouse farms will increase cucumber supply by late February. However, imports remain unstable, keeping prices 30% higher than last year.
