Lettuce grower Curaçao on course for first harvest

Delivering 4,000 heads of lettuce a day to retail and catering outlets on the island. That is the goal of BonHydroponics, the latest project of Edward van Wonderen in Curaçao, a Dutchman with a past in football who steered his entrepreneurial drive towards the AGF world just under a decade ago. "The 5,500 m2 greenhouse is already there, as are the 130 tables for hydroponics. It is now waiting for my grower from Bahrain to arrive," Edward said late last year.

Meanwhile, the grower has arrived. Atik Ap was given growth light to travel to Curaçao a fortnight ago. BonHydroponics expects to show the first production in seven to eight weeks.
