Farmers in Makhumkuli district are increasing production

Farmers in the Makhumkuli district of the Balkan region of Turkmenistan are working hard to grow more crops this year. They have been growing fruits, vegetables, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, and onions in the Sumbar and Chendir valleys for many years with good results.

In 2025 vegetable farming in the district is mostly being handled by private landowners. As a result, farmers are already harvesting tomatoes and cucumbers, sending them to local consumers.

One of the successful farms is a greenhouse built by Bayramdurdy Gochakov, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. Located along the Parhay Valley, the greenhouse covers one hectare and has been in operation for nearly 10 years. It is primarily used for growing tomatoes. The greenhouse uses modern systems for tasks like fertilizing seedlings and controlling ventilation, heating, humidity, and irrigation, all managed with computers.

So far, the greenhouse has produced and sent 36 tons of tomatoes to both local and international markets. By June, workers expect to harvest another 115 tons. A large portion of this high-quality product will be exported.
