Sormac to unveil new equipment in fresh produce processing technology

Sormac, a technology manufacturer specializing in fresh produce processing, is set to introduce four new advancements at Fruit Logistica. The company will present these developments alongside updates to existing technology and equipment designed for processing carrots, onions, peppers, melons, and other produce.

A key highlight is the launch of the fully automatic robotic pepper corer (PCR), designed to process bell peppers from singulation and orientation to de-coring and portioning in a continuous, automated process. The system can also cut peppers into slices, rings, wedges, or cubes, with a processing capacity of up to 2,500 pieces per hour.

Sormac is also expanding its cutting technology with the introduction of the three-dimensional vegetable dice cutter (DC-145). This machine offers versatile cutting options, including dice, stick, and slice cuts in various sizes. Featuring a 400 mm drum diameter, the largest in its category, the DC-145 enables operators to set slice thickness digitally via a touchscreen interface, eliminating the need for mechanical adjustments. It has a capacity of up to 6,000 kilograms per hour, depending on the application.

In addition to these cutting and coring solutions, Sormac is introducing two imaging-based innovations. The OptiView camera system is designed to improve production quality, process control, and troubleshooting, while the OptiPro visual automation system ensures that products meet specified criteria before automatically triggering adjustments. Both technologies aim to enhance productivity and quality control in processing lines.

The company is also showcasing redesigned and upgraded equipment, including the vertical vegetable centrifuge (FC-540) and the slice and wedge cutter (FS-3600 MultiSystem).

Roy Lemmen, sales director at Sormac, emphasized the importance of these advancements in improving efficiency, hygiene, and product quality within fresh produce processing. He noted that live demonstrations and discussions with industry professionals will be a key part of the company's presence at Fruit Logistica.
