Challenges and opportunities in the post-harvest sector for 2025

The post-harvest sector is undergoing a transformation, driven by growing challenges and opportunities for innovation. In 2025, key market players—producers, exporters, and marketers—face pressing issues such as rising energy costs, process optimization, and compliance with increasingly stringent quality standards. In this context, Maf Roda firmly believes that automation and artificial intelligence will be essential drivers to meet these demands.

Maf Roda feels that automation is no longer optional—it has become a strategic necessity in the post-harvest sector. Technological solutions minimize human intervention, enhance precision, and optimize every stage of the process. For instance, electronic sorting systems stand out for their ability to detect both internal and external defects, ensuring superior product quality in record time.

The company has implemented predictive maintenance tools to minimize downtime and real-time management systems that enable clients to make strategic decisions quickly and effectively. Artificial intelligence (AI) is another cornerstone of Maf Roda's future vision:

"We have developed advanced technologies capable of analyzing both external and internal product characteristics, from nearly imperceptible defects to internal parameters such as sweetness or decay detection. These AI-based tools not only optimize productivity but also transform the user experience, making it more autonomous, intuitive, and efficient."

"As 2025 approaches, our commitment is to work closely with producers, exporters, and distributors to provide solutions tailored to the real needs of the market. We are confident that combining collaboration and technological innovation is key to overcoming the sector's challenges and ensuring a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable future."

The upcoming edition of Fruit Logistica, to be held in Berlin, will be the stage to showcase Maf Roda's latest offerings. From technologies for blueberries and cherries to advancements in robotic packaging, we highlight our ability to cater to a wide range of crops, including apples, citrus fruits, stone fruits, tomatoes, blueberries, cherries, and more.

Maf Roda will showcase, among other things:

  • Advanced analysis for blueberries: A new generation of software that evaluates fruit quality, offering an intuitive and user-friendly interface that provides operators with greater autonomy.
  • Cherryway IV: Revolutionary cherry processing: This cherry grader features four-movement rotation to position fruits with their stems horizontally, enabling comprehensive analysis, including the apical zone, and delivering exceptional results.
  • Maximum flexibility in small-package filling: The new multi-format fillers for cherries and blueberries adapt to various packaging formats required by major retailers, from classic baskets or clamshells to cups. These fillers provide the much-needed flexibility in today's packaging landscape.
  • Line Pack: Robotic packaging: A robot designed to achieve high production levels, ensuring efficient processes and consistent workflow.

Maf Roda will exhibit during Fruit Logistica 2025, you can find them in Hall 4.1, Booth C10 D01.
