Despite the worse results for the 2023 financial year, with a loss of around 600,000 euros, there is a spirit of optimism at German Obstgroßmarkt Mittelbaden eG (OGM), according to this year's Annual General Meeting. Following the break in the co-operation with OGA-OGV and the departure of Managing Director Ulrich Dahm, Simon Enderle was appointed to the Executive Board by the Supervisory Board so that the management could continue seamlessly together with Martin Bähr.
Martin Bähr was re-elected as Chairman of the Executive Board in the elections.
Structural change needed
"We are well positioned in terms of our liquidity. However, we need to invest and become much better," said Dirk Kastner, who has been in charge of OGM as Managing Director since February. Increasing productivity, digitalisation in general, changes to the building structure and intensive producer support in terms of the variety strategy are just some of the building blocks that the Managing Director sees as measures. This improved focus is to be achieved above all with the new strong partner Frutania, headed by Managing Director Markus Schneider. Productivity improvements in the packing areas and modernisation of the apple sorting plant are further milestones. Frutania boss Markus Schneider agreed with Kastner and also appealed to growers to embrace protected cultivation with tunnels and nets.
